Lynn is Katie's older sister.  She always makes everything seem Kira-Kira.  The ski is kira-kira because it's a color and see-through at the same time.  They lived in a Japanese community in Iowa, then they moved to a Japanese community in Georgia by their uncles house.  Her mother took a job in a hatchery.  Katie and Lynn started going to the new school.  It was very hard for both of them to make friends.  Their mother gave birth to a baby boy named Samsun.  Lynn finally found a friend named Amber.  She was very popular so Lynn felt very proud of herself.  Ever since Lynn became friends with Amber she started painting her fingernails, going to the mall all the time, and doing things she never thought she would do.  One day Lynn, Katie, and Samsun went on a picnic in this beautiful grassy area owned by their dad's rich boss.  Samsun wandered off and got stuck in a bear trap.  Lynn and Katie found someone willing to come and take Samsun home.  Lynn got very very sick and it didn't take long for her to die.  That's when her family started to fall apart, but it's up to Katie to remind them that there's always going to be Kira-Kira in their future.
